The Decision Branch enables businesses to introduce clear decision points into their workflows, creating dynamic paths that adapt based on user input. Available under the Control section, this feature simplifies the process of managing multi-step workflows by ensuring the right actions are taken based on real-time choices.
Instead of relying on form data or complex conditional logic, the Decision Branch enables users to manually select an option—such as a simple Yes or No, or choose between two options—which then directs the workflow along the appropriate path. This ensures workflows remain responsive, efficient, and tailored to client needs without unnecessary complexity.
Key Benefits of Decision Branching
- Enhances Workflow Automation – Automates decision-making, reducing manual oversight.
- Increases Clarity & Simplicity – Provides a straightforward way to create multi-path workflows.
- Improves Operational Efficiency – Accelerates processes by removing bottlenecks in decision points.
- Empowers Clients & Teams – Allows users to make informed choices, leading to more personalized service experiences.
How It Works
- A decision point is introduced within the workflow, requiring user input to proceed.
- The decision is assigned to a specific user role, ensuring the right stakeholder makes the choice.
- Once a selection is made, the workflow follows the corresponding preconfigured path.
- Decision branching supports a maximum of two branches per instance and must be used within sequential workflows.
By using Decision Branches in workflows, businesses can streamline complex processes, improve adaptability, and ensure every step is aligned with client needs.
Adding a Decision Branch to a flow template and an instant flow:
- Once you are in the flow builder, locate the desired flow step where you would like the decision action to be added.
- From the left-hand panel under the Control section, drag and drop the Decision Branch to the required area in the flow.
- Fill in Decision Details:
- Question: Write the question that you want the user to answer, based on which the correct path in the flow will appear.
- Description: If required, add information to provide context on the decision. Users can click the auto-fill option to leverage Dynamic Data Reference, which pulls data from previous actions in the flow, specific action details, or workspaces.
- Attachments: If needed, add attachments to aid the decision-making process.
- Define Decisions: Enter the labels for Decision 1 and Decision 2. For example, this can be Yes or No or specific choices.
- Due Date: Specify the due date and assign the decision to the appropriate user.
- Click Add to finalize inputting the Decision Branch.
- The interface will display two branches, representing the paths for Decision 1 and Decision 2.
- Add actions to each branch, relevant to the respective decision.
